The Bothy at Plonks Farm

Plonks Farm is a Grade II listed, 17th-century property in the heart of Shamley Green, Surrey. The owners wanted to turn the historic bothy in its grounds into an entertaining space and gym — but on closer inspection the original building proved structurally unsound. The answer was to take it down and rebuild it, sympathetically and properly, keeping all the character and charm of the original.
Working alongside main contractor ALCO Properties, Reynolds carried out the build — demolition, groundworks and the structural and stone work that gives the new bothy its aged character. The rebuild used Ham Hill stone, hand-made bricks, salvaged roof tiles and air-dried oak, with period steel-frame and timber casement windows and a bespoke replica of the original door. Inside, it now houses a games room, gym, sauna, bar and cinema room.
The finished building met English Heritage's exacting standards and was awarded a blue plaque — and the project was featured in The Times property pages. It's the kind of recognition that speaks for itself.

When the owners of this East Hampshire home decided to add a Desjoyaux swimming pool, their biggest worry wasn't the design or the budget — it was the wait. They'd heard plenty of stories of people waiting months just for work to start, long enough for any project to lose its momentum.
It was Desjoyaux who recommended Reynolds for the groundworks — the two teams work together regularly, and it shows. Tom visited the site, talked the project through, and was on site within a week of the go-ahead. From there the two sides ran like one team: Reynolds handled the full excavation and groundworks, installed the pool surround, and coordinated the wider job — organising the electrician and digging the trenches for the cable runs — while Desjoyaux got on with the pool itself. Five weeks after breaking ground, it was done.
There was some thinking ahead, too. With garden solar panels planned for later in the year, Tom dug the trench and laid the cabling for them as part of the same project — at a very good price, with the machinery already on site. One less job, and one less bill, down the line.

Thinking About a Pool?"I'll be honest — I was worried about whether it would actually get delivered. Then Tom said he could be there the following week. I was surprised, but it just meant it got done."
